It is another Sunday in a new year, and like every other Sunday; I began to seek answers from myself about why some things seem wrong in a world that is ruled over by the one supreme being, ‘God’.
The first question that came to mind was, “What happens when God takes a nap?” I know it might seem all funny to many, especially as most Christians would say that he doesn’t rest. Well, need I remind you that after he created the world in six days, he rested on the seventh? If that is recorded in the Bible, what does that connote about the persona of God? God, like humans; also rests.

While we are clear on that fact, what happens when the big man up there takes his nap? Could it be that it is when he looks away from all that he created that bad things happen? Or could it be that it is when he sleeps that bad things happen?

I mean, logically, we all know that God is good all the time. Would a good God watch while the many ills in the world happen? Even to his own children? Imagine the story of Adam and Eve in the Bible, the Bible recorded that God goes to visit the duo, but it is while he was away that the devil came around to tempt the duo. We all know how that story ended.

In my own moment of deep thinking, I feel that it is when God takes a nap or looks away that evil men do the bad things in the world. If you disagree, then you can as well agree that he is not good all the time, maybe he’s bad sometimes. Why? Because he watches over us all, while he allows so many evil things happen.
But honestly, let me ask you too, what happens when God decides to take a rest?
When God takes a rest, angels and other heavenly beings take charge.
When they take charge, what happens?😊
😁😁😁😁
Angels can’t take charge.
If man doesn’t take charge, the Angels will just seat and watch.
According to the Bible, God is in fact still resting and has given us the power of creation, the power to choose between life and death. This is where “liberty” comes to play, I’m sure we all know the gift of freedom given to us by God which He doesn’t interface directly with but may I put this out there for anyone who cares to know; God doesn’t exactly know it all when it comes to dealing with humans. For everything that happens to us, is as a result of what we made possible. Only by revelational knowledge of becoming… Read more »
Hmmm the power to become is actually our bane. Most times I wish he wasn’t resting, I wish he was as quick to respond as Man would. But then again, that’s what qualifies him as God. Thank you so much for the insight👏👏
I beg to differ that God is still is resting.
That God gives us the discretion to chart the course of our lives, doesn’t mean he is still resting. Psalm 121: 4 says “God never sleeps or slumber”.
If God hadn’t rested, how would we have known the holy day of the week? He only rested to show us the significance of the Sabbath.
I don’t think he is still resting.
Hmmmm! Sabattical significance! I never saw that coming.🤔
I grew up to realize on my own, that God’s matters are not completely comprehensible.
And I don’t argue about it too much, I just say what I think is didactic and leave..
For God taking a nap😃, is hilarious to me.. Unless this needs to be simplified
God is not human, he doesn’t feel or act like one.. So he would not ” Catch a 40 winks ” 😃 if you ask me.
Also his ways are different, he doesn’t think like us. So things that seem crazy in our eyes might seem otherwise 😃

Like they say, his ways are different…
I heard of a story and it goes this way. A man and his son lived happily on a farm. They were not rich, but they were happy. One day, the son came across some wild horses and he was elated. He was able to capture some and take them home. Their neighbor came to visit and said to the father “Wow! How fortunate of you that this would happen to your household!” The father shrugged and said.. “What do I know about these things?” A few days later, while the boy was trying to tame the horses, one of… Read more »
Brilliant analysis 👌
Hmmmm!
Has He ever just for a second ?🤔
Psl- 121.
When something good happens, it’s his will, when something bad happens, he moves in mysterious ways 🛌
Yeah. So we are made to believe
I’m excited when issues like these are raised, even though they tend to stir up different line of thoughts and tend to make the religiously bias people look at y’all like antichrists 👿 The truth is, there are times when God doesn’t make sense, his love is conditional, he killeth and maketh alive… We see some things, we call it an act of God and that he knows it all… Based on that, we suppose die the matter abi? OK! Let’s say he takes naps, what happens when he wakes up? We have to accept the fact that the responsibility… Read more »
Hmmmm. Nice pointer there, what happens when he wakes up? And the times where he dont make sense people still say his ways are just, why?
That’s my point exactly…
Am glad to know that a not the only one that thinks weird things. 😄
😂😂😂 I can feel the excitement
While I must appreciate the wittiness of the writer as this is a really good and engaging write-up, I however think there might be quite some false assumptions about the nature of God here. First is about God resting. God rested from his works not due to weariness or tiredness as humans rest, God rested from his works because they were perfect works. So God resting was not a taking a nap kinda stuff, the holy one of Israel groweth not weary Though the young men grow weary. Secondly, this would be an assault on the omniscience and omnipotence of… Read more »
😄😄😄 How can you be apologetic for an insightful comment?? Hi Abiola, good to have you here and YES you are free to write as long as you want.😁
Asides that I enjoyed reading your perspective, I also admire the fact that you were not abusive but maintained your calm in stating your point. This is an online community for people with diverse opinions and I am glad to have your response. I look forward to more.
Do me a favour of turning on our post notifications. You are welcome 🤗
I send light and peace your way. Obviously you could some more. The King of Kings neither sleep nor slumbers.
Thank you Gaga 😁😁… welcome too💥
Imo, the fact that God let’s evil happen doesn’t mean he’s asleep or resting. He let’s those things happen because He’s merciful and enduring, I think He finds it difficult hurting His own creation, so He gives them time to change, if they don’t, He’ll hit back harder😂
Hmmmm… but how come the saying “why do bad things happen to good people?” 🤔
That’s not the case. God does not ‘let evil happen’. That’s all on us human. What we call evil is simply the consequences of disobeying natural laws. So we disregard the law of gravity for instance and jump through a 4 storey building, break our bones or worse end up dead and then turn around and blame God for letting us fall. Of course it can’t work that way. Human we are our own undoing…
I don’t agree tho…
I think God rested from creation…
He stopped creating…
The bible says he never sleeps so, “he rested” doesn’t mean he slept or he looked away…
Another angle! Thank you Chioma 💥
